Four juveniles and one adult were recently arrested in Redwood City after being seen passing around what appeared to be a loaded handgun while out in public, according to police.
On Friday, August 12, Redwood City police conducting a pre-event safety enforcement reportedly came across five individuals — an adult and four juveniles — passing a loaded handgun back and forth.
The five individuals scattered when they saw police, but were apprehended after a short foot pursuit, police said.
After a search, officers recovered a loaded and unregistered .40 caliber Glock with a 20-round magazine, a set of brass knuckles, and a pellet gun modified to resemble an actual Glock handgun, police said.
The four juveniles were taken into custody and booked at the San Mateo County Youth Services facility. The adult suspect, identified as 22-year-old Fernando HernandezMaldonado, was arrested on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
