Man Arrested for Alleged Kidnapping at Local School

“On August 22, 2022, at about 0936 hours, the Tracy Police Department Communications Center received a call from a school employee at Stein High School. The reporting party reported a student had been accosted by a man with a knife. Officers assigned to patrol responded to the area and began looking for the subject, while another officer contacted the school.

At 0941 hours, our officer located a subject matching the description provided by the original reporting party. The subject was detained without incident.

Upon further investigation, the juvenile victim reported he was approached by the subject near the intersection of Tracy Boulevard and Beverly Place. The suspect allegedly produced a knife and demanded money from the student. The suspect followed the victim, demanding he be led to the school. The victim did not run, out of fear the suspect would harm him. When they arrived on school grounds, the suspect was confronted by school security and left the area. The victim was not physically touched or harmed in the incident.

After being positively identified by the victim, Shiva Sharma (19 years old of Tracy) was booked into county jail on the following charges:
PC 207- Kidnapping
PC 664-211- Attempted Robbery
PC 21310- Possession of a Concealed Knife
PC 417- Brandishing of a Deadly Weapon
PC 626.10- Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds
H&S 11377- Possession of Controlled Substance
