NOVATO — Two women were arrested in connection with thefts at Vintage Oaks Shopping Center. One had outstanding arrest warrants. Both suspects have been arrested many times. Officers responded to Designer Shoe Warehouse on August 26. Employees reported a woman dressed in a bright pink outfit stole more than $900 worth of merchandise and fled. While officers were investigating, a woman matching the suspect’s description showed up at Ulta Beauty store. This time she allegedly stole $3,000 worth of cosmetics. The suspect fled Ulta Beauty using the same white Honda minivan. Officers found the minivan parked outside the nearby Target store. They waited about 30 minutes until Tammy Jones, 56, of San Rafael returned.
Officers learned that Jones had been detained inside Target. Store security stopped her from leaving with a shopping cart full of clothing worth approximately $2,700. Inside the minivan, officers found merchandise reported stolen from the shoe store. They also found more than $1,800 worth of alcohol allegedly stolen in Sonoma County. Jones was booked on suspicion of grand theft, petty theft, and receiving or concealing stolen property. Jones was arrested three other times this year for thefts and illicit drug possession. Since May 2020, she has been arrested 12 times.
Police also contacted a second suspect in connection with the retail theft investigation: Melisa Annlyn Rodriguez, 32 of San Francisco. Rodriguez was arrested on open charges for possession of controlled substances and ammunition.
In addition, Rodriquez was arrested on outstanding warrants for vehicle theft, burglary, and petty theft. She has been arrested at least 17 times, starting in December 1969.
