An alleged perpetrator of domestic violence was arrested at his Anaheim residence after a three-hour standoff with police and an officer-involved shooting.
Gonzalo Dominguez, 35, was arrested for multiple felony charges, including domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, and assault on a police officer.
Police responded to an Anaheim hospital after midnight on September 2nd after a 30-year-old woman reported that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The woman, who was “suffering from various physical injuries,” according to Sgt. Shane Carringer, informed police that Dominguez had attacked her at his residence and that he had several guns.
“Simultaneously, as additional [Anaheim Police Department] officers arrived at the suspect’s residence to set up a containment and attempt communications with the suspect,” continues Sgt. Carringer, “APD dispatch received a call from personnel on the Orange County Health Care Agency’s – Mobile Crisis Assessment Team (CAT) who had contact with Dominguez and reported that Dominguez was threatening to shoot someone.”
Dominguez emerged from his garage shortly after 2:30 AM with an AR-15 style rifle in his hands, and at least one officer opened fire. He was not hit, however, and fled back inside his residence for the next hour. Finally, at nearly 3:30 AM, Dominguez surrendered to police and was taken into custody.
Neither Dominguez nor any officers were injured during the incident.
