Middle School Teacher Jailed for Allegedly Committing Lewd Acts on Minors
DANVILLE —A Bay Area middle school teacher and athletic coach suspected of committing lewd acts on minors is in custody. He was arrested following an investigation started by the Contra Costa County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
The suspect is Nicholas B. Moseby, a 41-year-old resident of Concord. Moseby is presently housed in Richmond at the West County Detention Facility in lieu of $125,000 bond. He was arrested on September 14.
Moseby teaches biology at Diablo Vista Middle School in Danville, where he is currently on administrative leave. He has also worked as a coach at Nor Cal Elite, an athletic training center in San Ramon. His alleged victims are 14- and 15-year-old girls.
Moseby allegedly sent the 14-year-old a video of himself masturbating via social media on September 4. He is accused of committing a lewd act involving the 15-year-old on August 31.
Consequently, felony charges were filed September 16 against Moseby. He faces two counts of committing a lewd act upon a child. He is also charged with distributing/exhibiting lewd material to a minor.
Moseby has had prior contact with law enforcement concerning supposed inappropriate behavior. In November 2015, he was arrested in Oakland on suspicion of engaging and agreeing to engage in prostitution. However, charges against him were dismissed in that case.
Authorities believe there may be more child victims involving Moseby. Anyone with information can call Darryl Holcombe, senior inspector at the Contra County District Attorney’s Office, 925- 957-2200.
