A convicted felon with multiple outstanding arrest warrants was arrested in Rancho Cucamonga after a short pursuit ended in a non-fatal lethal force encounter with police.
James Webster (47) of Ontario was found to be in possession of a handgun and drugs at the time of his arrest. He faces charges of felon in possession of a firearm.
Rancho Cucamonga were searching the area of 9th Street and Grove Avenue for Webster around 9 AM on September 11th. “Webster had three outstanding arrest warrants for charges including drugs and weapons, and was believed to be armed,” according to police. He was riding a bike when police located him and gave him multiple commands to stop. Webster refused to comply and continued biking toward a residential area.
“A lethal force encounter occurred when a deputy used a patrol car to nudge the bike to stop Webster,” said police. “Webster fell to the ground and was taken into custody without further incident.”
Deputies subsequently searched Webster, found the handgun and drugs, and transported him to a local hospital for assessment. Once he was medically cleared, he was booked at West Valley Detention Center without bail.
