PLEASANT HILL — Two 19-year-old suspects are in custody in connection with a shooting at Pleasant Oaks Park earlier this month. Nearby buildings and vehicles were struck by bullets, but no persons were reported injured.
Officers responded September 9 to the park on Santa Barbara Road. Multiple bullet shell casings were found at the scene, along with bullets that struck buildings and vehicles in the vicinity.
Police spoke with teenagers who were hanging out at the park. They told officers that two unknown persons shot at them and fled from the area in a black car.
Two identified suspects are believed responsible for the gunfire. On September 11, Pleasant Hill detectives and the Central County SWAT team went to Antioch. Warrants were served.
Saul Jimenez was arrested at 7 a.m. His home was searched, and a firearm was recovered as evidence. The car believed used to flee from the crime scene was impounded.
Jimenez is being held at the West County Detention Facility in Richmond in lieu of $680,000 bond. Felony charges filed against him include four counts of assault with a deadly (firearm) weapon, along with enhancements.
On September 21, Alexander Martinez-Nacurena was arrested at 5:36 a.m. at his residence in Pittsburg. Detectives and the Central County SWAT team also searched his home. From inside they recovered a high-capacity handgun magazine, ammunition, and other related evidence.
Martinez-Nacurena is in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility. Bond for his release was set at $2 million. He was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and charges are pending against him.
The investigation of the park shooting is still open. Anyone with information can contact the Pleasant Hill Police Department at 925-288-4630.
