Chico police have announced the arrest of a man whom they say had been planning a mass shooting.

The department began investigating after receiving information that 37-year-old Dallas Marsh had been planning a “Las Vegas style” mass shooting, and had also made threats to kill specific individuals including law enforcement officers.

After gathering evidence corroborating Marsh’s alleged intent, investigators tracked him to a local motel and took him into custody on a no-bail felony arrest warrant, police said.

During a subsequent police interview, Marsh allegedly threatened to kill officers and their families and also attacked an officer with a table, prompting the department to seek additional charges of battery on a peace officer and threats of violence against peace officers.

Marsh remains in custody at the Butte County jail.
