“Despite the crazy weather we’ve experienced the last few weeks (isn’t it supposed to be fall?), your Vacaville police officers keep busy at work!
On August 22nd, patrol officers responded to Raising Cane’s for reports of a fight in progress. Our Communications Center learned during the altercation, there were alleged threats being made regarding a firearm. Officers arrived on scene and immediately started working to get to the bottom of the situation. One of our officers made contact with several individuals seated inside of a vehicle. The driver, later identified as Tajej Johnson (19, Fairfield), said there was a gun in the vehicle. During a search, a Glock 23 handgun with a 30 round loaded magazine was found under the driver seat. The handgun was registered, but not to Mr. Johnson. He was later arrested for various weapons charges.
On September 8th, patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for various traffic violations. After patrol officers developed probable cause. a K9 Officer and his four-legged partner arrived on scene to assist with a K9 exterior search of the vehicle. K9 Duke showed indication for the presence of a narcotics odor from the vehicle. During a probable cause search, officers located a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson semi-automatic handgun inside of a duffle bag. A loaded magazine was also located next to the handgun. Jose Ramos Jr. (39, Vacaville) was arrested for various weapon charges and booked into County Jail.
On September 14th, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for various traffic violations. After contacting the driver, marijuana smoke wandered out of the window, prompting officers to detect a rather strong odor of burnt marijuana. The driver was given verbal commands to shut off the vehicle and failed to follow them. Officers continued to attempt to gain compliance from the subject, later identified as Danny Lockwood Jr. (21, Vacaville). Mr. Lockwood ultimately complied and was safely taken into custody. Officers located a loaded Glock 9mm in a backpack on the front seat. Also, located in the backpack were two 30 round magazines. Mr. Lockwood was arrested for a variety of weapons charges and taken to the County Jail.
On September 24th, officers conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation. The driver immediately exited the vehicle and was ordered to sit back in the car. The driver was irate the entire stop and continued to reach around the vehicle. When asked if there were any guns in the car, the driver, later identified as Ziryanni Simpson (28, Vacaville), stated he had a gun in the trunk. After he was safely removed from the vehicle, Mr. Simpson later admitted he had placed a Glock 35 under his driver seat. Mr. Simpson was arrested for various weapons charges and booked into County Jail.
On September 25th, patrol officers conducted a traffic stop for vehicle code violations. During initial contact with the occupant, a large bag of marijuana was observed in plain view. All occupants were safely removed from the vehicle and a probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle. A Glock 22 with a loaded ten round magazine was located by officers next to the bag of marijuana. Kameron Moore (22, Suisun City) was arrested for various weapons charges and booked into County Jail.
While we may never know what we’ll come across each day, we are thankful (most) all remained compliant with officer’s demands. It truly makes all the difference. We will continue to work hard to keep our community and citizens safe by getting illicit firearms off the street.”
