Girlfriend Arrested for Allegedly Hitting her Boyfriend with a Lead Pipe

UNION CITY — A woman wanted for outstanding warrants was arrested after she allegedly hit her boyfriend’s head with a lead pipe. She was taken into custody after a 6-hourlong standoff with police.
On October 16 at 1:50 a.m., police responded to a report of an assault at a residence on Alvarado Niles Road. Officers found a 28-year-old man bleeding profusely. He was given first aid at the scene before being transported to a hospital for nonlife threatening injuries.
In a prepared statement Union City police said. “The victim identified the suspect as his girlfriend Diamond A. Edwards, a 26-year-old female from Union City.”
Later the same day, officers saw Edwards at 6:34 p.m. entering her residence. Police surrounded the building and ordered her to surrender. Instead, Edwards barricaded herself inside. A Union City police SWAT team responded with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
After six hours, Edwards finally exited from the residence. She was arrested October 17 at 12:45 a.m. Edwards was transported to Santa Rita Jail. At the time of her arrest, she had outstanding warrants from agencies in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Edwards was booked for assault with a deadly weapon likely to produce great bodily injury and carrying a concealed dirk or dagger. She was also booked for burglary, disobeying a court order, inflicting corporal injury, and battery/obstructing an officer.
Three misdemeanor charges were filed against her –
Assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury PC 245(A)(4)
Corporal injury to a relationship partner PC 273.5(A)
Resist/Obstruct an officer PC 148(A)(1)
