LAPD: Man Allegedly Stabbed Woman in Head with Scissors in Unprovoked Attack

A man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a woman in the head in an unprovoked attack in North Hollywood earlier this month.

The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Jonathan Cole, is accused of stabbing the victim, a 22-year-old woman, in the head with a pair of scissors as the two walked past each other on Lankershim Boulevard, near Hatteras Street, on the morning of October 10.

The victim managed to flee to a local restaurant and ask for help before collapsing with the scissors still in her head. She was quickly hospitalized and is reportedly in stable condition.

Cole and the victim did not know each other; the attack appeared to be random and unprovoked, police said.

After the stabbing, police say Cole continued northbound and accosted a man and a woman as they waited at a bus stop. Cole reportedly asked them for a light and, when declined, allegedly threw a full jar of pickles at them, striking the woman in the shoulder.

The man chased Cole to the storefront of a supermarket, where Cole was detained by security until LAPD officers arrived and arrested him.

Cole remains in custody on suspicion of attempted murder. His bail was set at $3,055,000, police said.
