SF Police Make Arrests in Assault and Robbery Case

San Francisco police have announced the arrest of two suspects for an alleged assault and robbery in the city’s Mission District.

Shortly before 3 AM on Wednesday, October 5, Mission Station officers responded to the area of 26th and Folsom Streets to investigate a reported robbery. Officers learned that the victim, a 48-year-old man, had been brutally assaulted and robbed by two men.

The men had first confronted the victim as he attempted to enter a business, police said, then allegedly chased him down and attacked him a short time later when he left. The victim was evaluated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries and ultimately released.

The suspects were soon identified as 50-year-old Jaimie Poole and 32-year-old Matthew Venegas, both of San Francisco. The two were located and arrested exactly one week after the crime — on Wednesday, October 12 — in the same area the crime took place.

Both remain in custody on multiple charges each at the San Francisco County jail.
