Man Arrested after Deputies Interrupt Alleged Burglary in Progress

A Shasta County man was recently arrested after deputies interrupted an alleged burglary in progress in Big Bend.

On the morning of October 23, an employee of Big Stop Store on Big Bend Road who lived near the business reportedly called the owner to alert him to a burglary in progress.

The owner in turn called the Sheriff’s Office, telling dispatch that the front door window had been broken and that he could hear someone still moving around inside.

Responding deputies made entry to the business, along with K9 Deputy Ace, and announced their presence. When their calls were not answered, deputies sent in K9 Ace to assist in apprehending the suspect.

The suspect was ultimately identified as 29-year-old Sampson Elijah Taylor. After being medically cleared, Taylor was arrested and booked at the Shasta County jail.
