December 1, 2022 – Ventura County, Ca. – As if there were no daily CNN and Fox news headlines and public service announcements constantly interrupting episodes of The Walking Dead and Keeping Up with the Kardashians, those drawn to the inherent risks of drug use continue to fall victim to the deadly perils of fentanyl throughout Ventura County and adjacent environs.
According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. John Hajducko, recent evidence of that dismal trend surfaced on the evening of November 17th when deputies attached to the Camarillo Patrol Station arrived at a neighborhood residence pursuant to a 911 Emergency call reporting “an unconscious person” at the home. Ventura County Fire Department units and VCSD deputies found an unresponsive individual and immediately conducted “life saving measures” which ultimately proved unsuccessful.
As the Coroner’s office subsequently arrived to deal with the deceased victim, deputies conducted an investigation of the premises which indicated that “the subject had ingested fentanyl prior to their death” and that 29-year-old Camarillo resident Jesse Dominguez was the individual who had provided the lethal dose.
At that point, the Ventura County interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit (PCU) went to work, ultimately establishing surveillance of Dominguez’s residence. When, on the afternoon of November 30th Dominguez appeared at the surveilled location, Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail deputies swept in, made contact with Dominguez, and promptly took him into custody. Dominguez was transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on charges that included Sales of a Controlled Substance Leading to Death or Injury. As a convicted felon on parole at the time of the arrest, Dominguez remains in custody on a no-bail hold.
