A 33 year old Porterville man was recently arrested on drug and child endangerment charges after being discovered with a stolen vehicle, drugs, and a juvenile passenger.
Shortly after 8pm on Sunday December 4th a Porterville PD officer, who was performing a follow up investigation on an unspecified previous incident, encountered a parked but running vehicle at a home near Plano Street and Date Avenue. The vehicle displayed clear signs of having been stolen and a juvenile was sitting in the passenger seat.
While the officer as at the scene, a man approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and claimed that he was it’s owner. A registration check of the vehicle revealed this to be false as the vehicle had been reported stolen to Bakersfield PD.
The man, identified by officers as Jose Zavala Ceballos, was also determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was taken into custody. He was booked into the Tulare County South Detention Facility where he is being held on $100,000 bail. During the booking process, concealed drugs were also found on Ceballos’ person.
Ceballos faces allegations of being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, child endangerment, possession of a stolen vehicle, and taking contraband into a jail facility.
