Antioch Police have announced the arrest of a suspect in the brutal assault of a restaurant employee who stood up for a disabled person the suspect had allegedly been bullying.
In a department media release via Facebook, police identified 20-year-old Isaac White-Carter of Hayward as the suspect in the November 12 assault of an employee at The Habit Burger Grill on Mahogany Way in Antioch.
Police say the employee had intervened in the suspect’s alleged bullying of an intellectually disabled person, and that the suspect responded by punching her in the face multiple times.
The suspect reportedly beat her so severely that she lost her right eye.
In an interview with NBC Bay Area, the victim, 19-year-old Bianca Palomera, alleged that the suspect had been using slurs toward and threatening violence against a man she identified as her coworker’s brother.
Following the attack, Antioch PD launched a joint investigation with the U.S. Marshals Service to locate White-Carter.
White-Carter was ultimately located and arrested in Hayward on the morning of Monday, December 5, on suspicion of felony mayhem and felony aggravated assault causing great bodily injury.
