RIVERSIDE — On December 13, 2022, around 12:19 PM, Corona police officers were dispatched to the area of Fairview Park regarding reports of vandalism, according to a department media release.
Air 1, Riverside Police Department helicopter, was also able to respond to the call. Once police arrived, they observed three suspects. Officers were able to contact two of the three suspects, the third suspect fled on foot.
Officers arrested the first two suspects who were identified as Corona resident Joshua Hernandez (22) and Eastvale resident Isaiah Perez (24).
Officers reportedly located a loaded handgun on Joshua Hernandez.
As the other suspects were being arrested, Air 1 kept up with the third suspect. A short time later, the suspect was physically detained, after allegedly getting physical with the officers.
The third person was identified as Corona resident Jairo Espinoza (21). Espinoza was already on probation for burglary and had three warrants for his arrest, police said.
While detaining Espinoza, one of the officers sustained a hand injury. The officer was treated and released at a near by medical facility.
The three were arrested on various charges including vandalism, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, warrants, probation violation, and obstructing a peace officer resulting in injury.
