Ventura County, Ca. December 12, 2022 – It’s certainly no secret that those who are released from the California Department of Corrections after serving a felony sentence, as well as those released from Ventura County Jail on probation, are prohibited from any conduct related to the possession, sale, or use of controlled substances. Given that presumed awareness, it should not have come as a surprise to Canoga Park, Ca. residents 31-year-old Cameron Dusablong and 27-year-old Dakota Daniels when, on the morning of December 8 th , uniformed deputies attached to the Ventura County Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit and the Thousand Oaks Police Directed Enforcement team showed up at their front door with search warrants in hand.
According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. John Hajducko, Dusablong and Daniels were sought in connection with a November 17 th fatal overdose in Oak Park, Ca. When cops from the East Valley Patrol Station showed up to the reported scene, the discovered an “obviously deceased” victim of a fentanyl overdose. It was evidence found at that scene which helped detectives identify Dusablon as having provided the fatal overdose.
When Dusablon—on active Department of Corrections parole status—and Daniels—on active Ventura County probation—were contacted during the search of their residence, “they were found in possession of 35 grams of fentanyl” along with additional evidence directly indicating their involvement in the November 17 th fatality.
Both Dusablon and Daniels were taken into custody and transported to Ventura County Jail, where Dusablon remains on a no-bail hold. For her part, Daniels was booked on an outstanding felony warrant and for possession for sales of a controlled substance; her CDC Parole hold was dropped “and she is currently out of custody.”
