Salinas Man Arrested on Suspicion of Attempted Murder in South Main Hit-and-Run

Salinas Police have announced the arrest of a suspect in a recent hit-and-run that occurred on on South Main.

Police responded on the afternoon of December 12 to reports of a fight in a local parking lot, which had escalated to one of the individuals allegedly striking the other person with their car, dragging him under the vehicle, and ultimately running them over as they fled.

The victim, a 26-year-old man from Salinas, sustained major injuries and was hospitalized, and is reportedly in serious but stable condition.

Investigators learned that the victim and suspect had gotten into an argument that escalated to a fight, and obtained surveillance video from the area as well as collecting witness statements to help identify the suspect.

The suspect was soon identified as 19-year-old Adrian Santos.

After obtaining a search warrant, detectives located and arrested Santos on the afternoon of December 14 on the 1000 block of Longfellow Drive in Salinas. His vehicle, grey BMW sedan, was also seized as evidence.

Santos was booked at the Monterey County jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
