Man Arrested for Theft and Trespassing

On December 23rd a man identified as Luke Jay Newman (27) of Mammoth Lakes was arrested after trespassing at The Village Lodge for a second time.

On December 22nd, just one day prior to his arrest, Newman was cited for trespassing at The Village Lodge. During this citation he gave the Officer’s on scene a fake name.

Newman has had a long history of arrests dating back to 2013. Charges include possession of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia, DUI, grand theft, vandalism, trespassing, disorderly conduct, reckless driving, driving with suspended license, and possession of stolen property.

When Officer’s returned to The Village Lodge on the 23rd on another report of Newman trespassing, he was found in possession of stolen ski equipment. The Officer’s began to investigate and discovered that the ski gear was in fact stolen and arrested Newman for possession of stolen property.

In addition to the stolen property Newman is also being charged with Trespassing, Theft, and Possession of illegal drug paraphernalia. He is also being charged with theft for a stolen iPhone from the previous week.

Newman was booked into the Mono County Jail on all the charges mentioned.
