Pair Arrested in Connection to Armed Robbery at Tulare County Market
The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrests of two people in connection to an armed robbery in Dinuba, according to a press release.
On the morning of Wednesday, January 4, Tulare sheriff’s deputies responded to the County Corner Market for a report of an armed robbery in which two men had allegedly entered the store, one carrying a gun, demanded money from the clerk, and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
By Friday, January 6, investigators had identified 33-year-old Alejandro Sanchez of Lindsay as the primary suspect, as well as 34-year-old Jessica Dorough of Porterville as a second person of interest, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The next afternoon, January 5, Street Crimes detectives reportedly spotted Sanchez driving a stolen Acadia in a rural area east of Exeter and engaged him in a short pursuit, until Sanchez crashed along the roadside near Meyers Avenue and Spruce Road and fled on foot into a nearby orchard.
Dorough was in the vehicle with him and remained at the scene after Sanchez fled. Detectives ultimately found Sanchez hiding in a tree, and both he and Dorough underwent medical evaluations for minor injuries and were later arrested.
Detectives also obtained a search warrant for a room at the Motel 6 in Porterville the two had been staying in prior to their arrests. At the room, detectives reportedly recovered evidence connecting the pair to the armed robbery at County Corner Market.
More evidence and the weapon believed to have been used in the robbery were later found in the stolen vehicle Sanchez had been driving, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Both Sanchez and Dorough were ultimately booked on suspicion of robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, and conspiracy.
