BRENTWOOD — Officers recovered several bullet shell casings and arrested a man suspected of committing a drive-by shooting. He is allegedly responsible for shooting at an occupied residence before driving away from the scene.
The incident happened December 15th at approximately 9:15 p.m. Police responded to a reported shooting that occurred at a residence on the 100 block of Dunedin Drive. Several residents were at home at the time.
Witnesses helped investigators identify the suspect’s vehicle, a sliver sedan with bullet holes—presumably from a prior unrelated incident. Detectives found that vehicle on December 16th and impounded it as evidence.
Upon further investigation, 19-year-old Jose Isidro Pena, of Brentwood, was identified as the driver and shooting suspect. Pena was arrested January 7th on a Ramey Warrant. He is being held in custody in lieu of $250,000 bond at the West County Detention Facility in Richmond
On January 10th, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office charged Pena with shooting at an inhabited dwelling PC 246.
Detectives believe the suspect may be involved in other shootings. The bullet holes in his vehicle appear to have been there for a while.
The investigation of Pena remains active. Anyone with information can contact Brentwood police detective Jeff Agostinho at 925-809-7870.”
