Monterey County Man Held on $1.1m Bail for Alleged Kidnapping, Sexual Assault

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a primary suspect in an connection to alleged kidnapping and rape that took place in 2021.

In a press release posted to Facebook, the Sheriff’s Office identified 21-year-old Uri Deleon Carcamo of Soledad as the suspect.

Police began an investigation after receiving information from Natividad Medical Center on the morning of May 15, 2021, that a recently admitted patient may have been the victim of a sexual assault. Deputies responded to the medical center and met with the victim, who told them that she’d been taken to a remote location outside of Gonzalez.

Deputies ultimately concluded that the victim’s allegations were credible, and detectives launched a formal investigation soon thereafter. Detectives eventually identified Carcamo as the primary suspect and obtained several search warrants in relation to the investigation.

On the afternoon of Monday, January 23, Carcamo was located and arrested in King City. At the time of his arrest, Carcano allegedly had a concealed firearm on him. Following the arrest, detectives served another search warrant at a residence on Ortiz Street in Soledad, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Carcamo was booked on suspicion of rape, kidnapping with the intent to commit rape, and other related charges, the Sheriff’s Office said. His bail as been set at $1.1 million.
