$250K Bail for Man Suspected in Several Burglary, Theft Cases in Lake County

A Lake County man has reportedly been arrested as the primary suspect in several recent alleged thefts of tools, firearms, vehicles, and other items.

In a media release posted to Facebook on January 27, Lakeport PD identified 18-year-old Daniel Alger as the individual believed to be responsible for “a series of residential burglaries, thefts, and vehicle thefts.”

On January 7, Alger was arrested on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Shortly after his arrest, he was identified as a suspect in at least five other cases, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Meanwhile, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office had also been investigating Alger and later arrested him in another part of the county on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance while armed and possession of a short-barrel rifle.

He has remained in custody since January 20, according to Lakeport PD.

Lakeport PD officers have reportedly since recovered a stolen vehicle in Nice, believed to be associated with Alger, and a gun belt inside the vehicle which had been stolen during one of the burglaries.

Alger remains in custody on a litany of charges which now include felony vehicle theft, felony conspiracy, and felony theft of a firearm. In light of the charges, per a Lake County Superior Court judge, Alger’s bail has been set at $250,000.
