“On Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at approximately 4:30 pm, the Trinity County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center received reports that a male in the Hayfork area was actively being stabbed by another male subject.
Trinity County Sheriff’s Deputies, California Highway Patrol, and LEO’s from USFS, responded to the area. Once Law Enforcement arrived and secured the scene, medical personnel responded and began to treat the victim while Deputies began investigating how the injury had been sustained.
During the course of investigation, it was discovered that the victim had been stabbed in the neck during a physical altercation by a subject identified as Aron Lewandowski.
The suspect had fled the area prior to the arrival of Law Enforcement. Deputies located Lewandowski on Thursday, February 2nd and he was transported to a local area hospital.
The victim is presently in critical condition, at a local area hospital. The name of the victim will remain withheld due to the nature of the crime.
This matter remains under investigation. The Shelter in place is no longer in effect.
