Report: Sacramento County Murder Suspect Allegedly Stabbed, Ran Over Victim
A Sacramento County man has been identified as a suspect in the recent murder of an 18-year-old woman.
In a joint media release by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and Rancho Cordova PD, authorities identified 22-year-old Devian Lewis as the suspect.
Officers were called to a home on Ramsgate Way at around 1:17 PM on Wednesday, February 1, where it was reported that a man had stabbed an 18-year-old woman and then run her over with his car.
Responding officers found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds and requested assistance from the Sacramento Metro Fire District. Despite life-saving efforts by fire personnel, the victim was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide and crime scene investigators responded to the scene to gather evidence and witness statements, and identified the suspect as Lewis. A short time later, investigators learned that CHP was currently pursuing a vehicle driven by Lewis along southbound I-80 near Dixon.
Sheriff’s deputies joined the pursuit as it continued through Sacramento and onto southbound Highway 99. At some point during the pursuit, law enforcement reportedly learned that Lewis was armed.
Lewis eventually pulled off the freeway on westbound Consumnes River Boulevard and passed into Elk Grove, at which point Elk Grove police officers jointed the pursuit. The pursuit finally ended in Elk Grove, where an officer-involved shooting reportedly took place during Lewis’s arrest.
Lewis was taken to an area hospital for treatment, and will remain there until medically cleared, police said.
