San Jose Police have announced the arrest of a man in connection to a recent series of robberies in the Bay Area.
According to a San Jose PD media release, the police department received a call on December 27, 2022, regarding a robbery and vandalism in the Blue Mountain Drive and Mount McKinley Drive area.
The victim reported that the suspect had deliberately rear-ended her car, stolen her personal belongings, and then threatened to shoot her if she tried to follow him. Detectives from the Robbery Unit were assigned to the case, and soon identified Brian Valverde as the primary suspect.
The investigation into Valverde’s alleged activities revealed a connection to a recent series of robberies that took place in both San José and Santa Clara.
On January 5, 2023, a robbery was reported in the parking lot of Bay 101 Casino in San José. The suspect had snatched the victim’s purse by force.
On January 23, an assault with a deadly weapon was reported at Matrix Casino in San José. The victim was walking towards the casino when a male suspect allegedly approached her with a knife that was approximately four to six inches in length. The victim tried to flee, but the suspect pointed an object that looked like a gun towards her and she “felt contact” on her heel, although there were no serious injuries.
In Santa Clara, an armed robbery with a firearm was reported on January 22 on the 3000 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard. On January 28, two separate cases of robbery and vandalism were reported in San José, one in the area of Monterey Road and Senter Road and another on the 1900 block of The Alameda.
In both cases, the suspect intentionally rear-ended the victims’ cars and stole their personal belongings, police said.
On January 30, the SJPD Robbery Unit detectives arrested Valverde in San José. A subsequent search of his property by the detectives uncovered evidence of narcotic sales, police said.
