On the afternoon of February 4, 2023, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a traffic stop on Central Avenue near Little River Drive in the McKinleyville area, according to a recent press release.
Sheriff’s deputies pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation and identified one of the passengers as Andrew James Lamberson Jr., who had multiple warrants for his arrest. The previous day, Lamberson had evaded arrest after fleeing from deputies, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Upon recognizing Lamberson, deputies ordered him to step out of the vehicle, but he immediately ran into a nearby green belt, where deputies pursued and apprehended him.
Officials say that during the arrest, Lamberson violently resisted the deputies, but they were eventually able to take him into custody.
A search of Lamberson reportedly led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia.
As a result of the incident, Lamberson was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of resisting a peace officer with violence, resisting a peace officer, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia, and violation of probation, in addition to the warrant charges he already faced.
The warrant charges included driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol level over .15, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and Post-Release Community Supervision revocation.
