“Between January 22nd and January 30th, 2023 there were four robberies or attempted robberies investigated by SJPD. The suspect used a semi-automatic pistol, often pistol whipping his victims, to demand money from them while they were using automated teller machines. On one occasion the suspect negligently discharged a firearm while committing the crimes. The suspect used at least two stolen vehicles as get-away cars during the commission of his crimes.
SJPD Robbery Unit Detectives recognized a pattern in the string of robberies and began a thorough and comprehensive investigation. Based on the preliminary investigation, Detectives identified the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest, in addition to a search warrant for his residence.
On February 2nd, 2023 SJPD’s Covert Response Unit (CRU) located and arrested the suspect while he was driving a stolen vehicle in San José. The suspect was in possession of property that linked him to the robberies. The subsequent search of his residence revealed items of evidentiary value to the case, in addition to evidence of narcotic sales. The suspect was booked at Santa Clara County Main Jail with 12 felony charges and one misdemeanor.
