Alleged Brandishing Incident Leads to Discovery, Recovery of Stolen Car; Two Arrested
Two people were recently arrested in Glenn County after one of them allegedly brandished a handgun, which ultimately led to the discovery that they had been driving a stolen car.
Deputies responded shortly after noon on Wednesday, February 15, to an area near the McDonald’s on West Wood Street in Willows, where it was reported that a man had brandished a gun. The victim told deputies that the man left the area with a second individual in a gold-colored Honda, and gave deputies the plate number.
Deputies caught up with the Honda and conducted a high-risk stop at the intersection of Wood Street and Airport Road. The driver, identified as 44-year-old Shawna Crump, reportedly admitted to deputies that the car was stolen, which deputies later confirmed.
Near the vehicle, deputies found a handgun, which they believe had been used in the brandishing and which Crump’s passenger, identified as 25-year-old Brandon Kaefer, is believed to have thrown from the vehicle.
Deputies also discovered Kaefer, currently on Post-Release Community Superivision, was carrying an illegal knife and a Billy club, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Crump was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia. Kaefer was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of a concealed dirk or dagger, brandishing a deadly weapon, and other charges.
Both were booked at the Glenn County jail.
