Fresno Police Announce Arrest of Primary Suspect in Fatal Shooting of Luis Castillo

The Fresno Police Department has announced the arrest of 31-year-old Raymond Guido in connection with the murder of Luis Alberto Castillo, 40, in 2022. This was the city’s final homicide case of 2022.
According to a press release issued on Wednesday, March 8, the victim was found suffering from gunshot wounds on Jackson Avenue north of Turner Avenue on December 30, 2022. Despite the efforts of officers and paramedics, Castillo died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Homicide detectives have identified Guido as the primary suspect in the case. Guido, who was released from prison in August 2022, is currently on parole and was arrested on a parole violation on March 2, 2023. He has now been officially charged with the murder of Luis Alberto Castillo, police said.
The motive for the murder has been determined to be robbery, and detectives believe a second suspect was involved whose arrest remains outstanding. The Fresno Police Department is asking anyone with information about the case to come forward and contact them.
The arrest of Raymond Guido comes after months of investigation by the Fresno Police Department.
The arrest of Guido also highlights the importance of parole and probation supervision. Guido was released from prison in August 2022 and was on parole at the time of his arrest.

According to ABC, Fresno recorded 60 homicides in 2022, the last of which was the murder of Luis Castillo. This marked a notable decrease from the previous year’s total of 74 reported homicides.
