San Francisco Police Arrest Three Suspects in Geary Street Stabbing
San Francisco police have announced the arrests of three suspects in connection to a stabbing on Geary Street back in mid-February.
According to a release issued Thursday, March 9, officers responded on February 16 to a report of a stabbing on the 500 block of Geary Street. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a 41-year-old male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and was later released after receiving treatment for his injuries.
The victim told officers that he was assaulted by multiple unknown suspects while walking back to his hotel. The suspects fled the scene, and the victim managed to return to his hotel and call police.
Further investigation led officers to determine that the stabbing had occurred on the 300 block of Taylor Street, police said.
The San Francisco Police Department Night Investigations Unit took over the investigation and soon developed leads on possible suspects, which was circulated through a department bulletin.
On February 19, officers from Tenderloin Station recognized one suspect, identified as 19-year-old Richard Rice, while in the Jones and Ellis Streets area. Rice was arrested and booked at San Francisco County jail on suspicion of attempted murder, mayhem, possession of a switchblade knife, possession of a controlled substance without a valid prescription, and possession of methamphetamine.
Officers soon identified and located two additional suspects, 26-year-old Niauni Hill and 24-year-old Navar Anderson. Hill and Anderson were taken into custody on Saturday, March 4, on the 300 block of Ellis Street. These arrests were made with the assistance of investigators from Tenderloin and Southern stations, police said.
Hill was booked on four counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and Anderson was booked on four counts of assault with a deadly weapon and possession of methamphetamine.
