PINOLE — An 18-year-old man faces a felony charge for allegedly sex trafficking a minor PC236.1(C). If convicted, Christopher Sanchez-Rosales, a resident of San Pablo, faces up to 12 years in state prison.
In a prepared statement police said. “The Pinole Police Department received a report that a 16- year-old runaway from San Mateo County was in a house in Pinole.”
The caller who reported this told police the girl was being sex trafficked by an adult male. Pinole officers responded during the afternoon of March 8 to investigate, but they were unable to find the juvenile at the house.
Detectives from the Pinole criminal investigation division took over the inquiry. They were able to track and safely find the girl, who was with Sanchez-Rosales at a San Pablo residence.
Upon further investigation, it was learned that the girl was a victim of sex trafficking in the San Francisco Bay Area. Investigators also learned that there were plans in the works to take her out-of-state.
Sanchez-Rosales purportedly admitted to sex trafficking the victim. Therefore, he was arrested on March 9 and booked at the Martinez Detention Facility. He allegedly persuaded or caused a minor to engage in prostitution.
The investigation of the case involving the girl from San Mateo County is ongoing. Anyone with information can call the Pinole Police Department investigation division at 510-724-1111.
