California Highway Patrol Seeks Witnesses to Hit and Run Collision

The California Highway Patrol, Oroville Area office, is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver involved in a hit and run collision that occurred on March 20, 2023, at approximately 1755 hours. The incident took place on Forbestown Rd, east of Old Olive Hwy, and involved a silver 2005 Saturn Ion and a white 1990 Dodge pickup.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Party #1, identified as John Doe, was driving the Saturn westbound on Forbestown Rd at a high rate of speed when he allowed the vehicle to cross the double solid yellow line towards the eastbound lane directly into the path of the Dodge, driven by Party #2. Party #2 attempted to swerve to avoid a collision, but the front of the Saturn collided with the front of the Dodge. After the initial impact, the Dodge overturned several times and came to rest on its roof. Party #2 sustained major injuries and had to be extricated from the Dodge before being life-flighted to a local hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Saturn, identified as Party #1, and the right front passenger fled the scene on foot. The passenger was later detained by California Highway Patrol officers; however, Party #1 has not yet been located.
