Registered Sex Offender Arrested for Alleged Probation Violation, Narcotic Possession

El Cajon, CA- El Cajon Police officers and San Diego County Probation Department conducted a probation compliance check at Quality Inn Suites located at 650 North Mollison Avenue on Friday, March 18, 2023, at approximately 7:45 am. They arrested Troy Snelling, a 41-year-old male, for violating the terms of his probation from his convicted sex crimes. Snelling was on probation for failing to register as a felony sex offender.

Upon making contact with Snelling, officers observed him throwing a plastic bag containing 24.26 grams of methamphetamine out of the motel room’s sliding glass door. The officers retrieved the bag of methamphetamine and arrested Snelling.

Further investigations revealed that Snelling was part of the County of San Diego’s hotel voucher program. He stated that he noticed a table in the lobby with a representative from Equus Workforce Solutions, a contractor for the county involving hotel vouchers. Equus provided him with $2000 in hotel vouchers every two weeks that he had been using since January 2023.

Snelling was arrested for probation violations, including failing to report to his probation officer, testing positive for narcotics while on probation, and possession of narcotics for sales.
