WALNUT CREEK — A witness and fast police response thwarted a burglary resulting in the arrest of a suspect. Isaiah Taylor, 18, who lives in Stockton, was apprehended by Walnut Creek PD last weekend.
On March 25 shortly before 7:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a burglary in-progress on Crescent Drive. A witness saw a young man wearing a mask and gloves climb over a fence and into a resident’s backyard.
The suspect was seen soon thereafter exiting from the backyard, before leaving the area in a blue Chevy sedan. Responding officers swarmed the residential neighborhood within a few minutes.
A blue Chevy matching the description provided by the witness was found parked nearby on Carriage Drive. An officer and her K-9 partner contacted the suspect, later identified as Taylor, sitting in the driver’s seat.
Upon further investigation, police determined that Taylor had attempted to enter a residence on Crescent Drive. His car was searched, and a loaded firearm was found concealed on the driver’s seat. The firearm and other evidence were seized from him.
Taylor was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. He was booked and held in custody there in lieu of $50,000 bond.
Although a burglary was apparently prevented, Taylor’s troubles are only just beginning. He now faces four charges –
- Attempted residential burglary PC 664/459
- Possession of a loaded firearm in public PC 25850(A)
- Possession of a concealed firearm in public PC 254000
- Possession of burglary tools PC 466.
