Nevada City Man Arrested After Allegedly Shooting at a Residence

In a recent incident, 34-year-old Travis Dodson of Nevada City was arrested and charged with several crimes, including willful discharge of a firearm, shooting at a dwelling, felon in possession of a firearm, obstruction of justice, and probation violation.
According to the Nevada City Police Department (NCPD), on Monday, March 27th, at approximately 9:33 PM, officers responded to multiple calls of shots heard in the area of the 600 block of Zion St. Upon arrival, officers learned that after a verbal altercation, Dodson went outside where he fired multiple shots.
Officers were able to identify Dodson as the suspect and subsequently obtained a search warrant for his arrest and the firearm used in the incident. On March 29th, at approximately 1:00 AM, NCPD officers, with the assistance of Nevada County Sheriff’s Deputies, served the search warrant at a residence in Penn Valley, where they were able to locate the firearm and take Dodson into custody without incident.
Dodson was booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility, where he is currently being held. The incident is still under investigation, and anyone with additional information is urged to contact the NCPD.
The arrest of Dodson comes as part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies in the area to combat gun violence and reduce crime.
