Detectives from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office have worked together with Investigators from the Fairfield Police Department to locate and apprehend Milton O’Neal. O’Neal was wanted out of Solano County for Murder and Domestic Violence. On April 3, 2023, the Fairfield Police Department Investigators provided pictures and a physical description of O’Neal to Detectives from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office. Information was developed that O’Neal may have been hiding in Lassen County to avoid arrest.
On the evening of April 3, deputies from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist with a medical aid call at a residence in Herlong, California. Upon arrival, a deputy contacted an individual that matched O’Neal’s description. O’Neal, however, provided the deputy with a false name and date of birth. The deputy detained O’Neal and was able to positively identify him shortly thereafter.
O’Neal was placed under arrest without incident and transported to the Lassen County Jail. He was booked for two separate Solano County warrants with the following charges: Murder and Corporal Injury to spouse. O’Neal is being held in custody without bail.
The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office has stated that they will work with the Fairfield Police Department to extradite O’Neal back to Solano County, where he will face trial for his alleged crimes.
This apprehension comes after several months of searching for O’Neal, who was considered to be armed and dangerous. The cooperation between the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and the Fairfield Police Department is being praised as a successful example of inter-agency collaboration in law enforcement.
