“Today, just after 5:06 PM, Fullerton PD requested assistance in locating a subject who fled from one of their officers near Walmart. That incident resulted in a large police presence in the area of Birch Hills Golf Course and the Glenbrook neighborhood and included a police helicopter. The suspect was located and taken into custody along the perimeter of Birch Hills Golf Course at about 5:45 PM.
While Brea officers were assisting Fullerton officers with the search, at about 5:50 PM, a resident on Hillhaven notified us about a possible house burglary at a neighbor’s house. Officers responded and confirmed a house burglary had occurred but determined the burglary was not related to the suspect we had been searching for.
Just a few minutes later, at about 6:06 PM, we received a call from an unknown person reporting a possible armed person on the campus of Brea-Olinda High School. This resulted in a large police response, including a police helicopter. The campus was sparsely occupied because of the time of day and because it was Spring Break.
Nonetheless, officers completed a thorough search of the campus and verified there were no armed people present, and the report was unfounded. Officers and Detectives are investigating the source of the call, and anyone with information should contact Detective Sergeant Jason Celmer at 714-990-7741 or jcelmer@cityofbrea.net.”
