Sacramento Sheriff’s Office arrests Suspect for Alleged Armed Robbery

On Friday, March 24, 2023, at approximately 4:44 am, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office (SSO) received a call regarding an armed robbery at the Chevron gas station situated at the intersection of El Centro Road and El Camino Avenue in North Sacramento. The patrol deputies of SSO immediately responded to the scene, where they discovered that the suspect had entered the gas station wearing a mask and armed with a shotgun. The perpetrator pointed the shotgun at the clerk and stole money from the register. After that, the suspect forced a customer to the ground and robbed his wallet before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.
Upon viewing the surveillance footage of the incident, the deputies determined that the suspect had dropped his wallet containing identifying information in the parking lot before committing the robbery. The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Tyrue REED from Sacramento, CA. REED is on active Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for Penal Code 29800(a)(1) felon in possession of a firearm.
On Thursday, March 30, 2023, the SSO detectives, along with the SSO Special Enforcement Detail (SED), apprehended REED, who was taken into custody. The authorities are investigating this case as well as REED’s possible involvement in other robberies. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in providing any information regarding other robberies that REED may have committed. REED is currently being held in custody at the Sacramento Main Jail, and his next scheduled court date is April 12, 2023.
