Grass Valley, Ca. – A 20-year-old man from Grass Valley, CA has been arrested for soliciting a minor online for sex. Kenneth Fox was taken into custody by Nevada County Sheriff’s Office Investigators on April 18, 2023, following a week-long online conversation with what he believed was a 13-year-old girl.
According to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives, who were posing as the young girl on social media, Fox engaged in unsolicited messages with the intent of having sexual intercourse with the minor. He even went as far as arranging to have her meet him at his residence.
On the day of his arrest, detectives located Fox at his residence in the 17000 block of Greenhorn Rd, and he was taken in for questioning at approximately 2:30 pm. Following the interview, Fox was arrested for 288.3 PC (communicating with a minor with the intent to commit a specified sexual act), 288.4(A)(1) PC (arranging to meet with a minor with the intent to commit a specified sexual act), and 288.2(A)(1) PC (distributing harmful material to a minor). He was subsequently booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility.
The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office is urging parents to speak with their children about internet safety. They advise parents to educate their children about the potential dangers of communicating with strangers online and to monitor their internet activity closely. The department also recommends that parents reach out to their child’s school administration or contact the dispatch center at 530-265-7880 to connect with a deputy assigned as a School Resource Officer (SRO) for further guidance on safe internet usage.
