Chula Vista, CA – The Chula Vista Police Department has launched a comprehensive investigation following the tragic passing of 59-year-old Jose Perez Fong, who succumbed to injuries sustained during an assault at Papagayos Grill and Cantina.

The incident occurred on April 15th, 2023, at the establishment situated on 2220 Otay Lakes Road.

The Chula Vista Police Department was informed by staff at Scripps Mercy Hospital on Friday, April 21st, that Perez Fong had tragically passed away while receiving medical treatment in the Intensive Care Unit. Perez Fong, a resident of San Diego, had been undergoing treatment for injuries sustained during the assault.
