Two Shoplifting Incidents Lead to Three Arrests in Petaluma
The Petaluma Factory Outlets experienced a series of theft incidents over the weekend, resulting in the arrest of three individuals from outside of Sonoma County.
According to a press release by Petaluma PD, the department received a robbery report from the Aeropostale store on the evening of Saturday, April 22. A female suspect had allegedly stolen approximately $4,000 worth of merchandise and, while leaving the store, allegedly pushed an employee who tried to stop her.
Officers arrived at the scene and located a female suspect matching the description provided. She was identified as Alyssa Hunsucker (30) from Eureka, and is believed to be the person responsible for the robbery. Hunsucker was arrested and found to be in possession of 3.6 ounces of suspected fentanyl, police said.
Hunsucker has been booked into the Sonoma County jail on suspicion of robbery and possession of a controlled substance.
On the evening of Sunday, April 23, the Petaluma Police Department responded to a theft report at the Nike store. Witnesses informed officers that a male and female had worked together to steal over $700 worth of merchandise. The suspects had already fled the scene in a vehicle before the officers’ arrival, but an officer spotted a vehicle matching the description on Highway 101, headed out of town. The officer made a stop and identified the occupants as Danielle Edwards (41) and Matthew Rabbitt (47), both from San Francisco.
A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered stolen property, narcotics, and burglary tools. Police say Edwards initially provided a false name but, after being properly identified, was later found to have three outstanding arrest warrants, including two felonies. Rabbitt was discovered to be on active parole for burglary. Both Edwards and Rabbitt were booked into the Sonoma County jail on multiple charges, including the original theft.
The investigations into these incidents are ongoing, and the Petaluma Police Department encourages anyone with further information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
