A Yolo County woman has been arrested after allegedly discharging a gun, which later turned out to be a BB gun, during a drunken argument.
According to a press release, the Winters Police Department received a call about a fight and shots fired on the 400 block of Main Street shortly after 9 PM on April 25. Responding officers identified a nearby house as the source of the disturbance. As they approached, a 37-year-old Winters resident, Destinee Anderson, emerged from the house holding a handgun.
In the ensuing standoff, officers used sound tactics and strategic communication, giving commands to drop the gun. Anderson reportedly complied with officers and dropped the gun. Upon examination of the handgun, authorities determined it was an air-powered BB gun with the orange tip removed.
Further investigation revealed that Anderson, who was heavily intoxicated, had gotten into an argument with unknown individuals and discharged the air-powered BB gun in their direction, causing popping sounds.
Anderson was ultimately arrested and booked at Yolo County jail on charges of discharging a BB device in a grossly negligent manner that could result in injury and being intoxicated in public.
