Silverstrand Beach, a pristine stretch of coastline in the unincorporated area of Oxnard, Ca., is the perfect place for a peaceful afternoon lover’s stroll…until someone pulls a gun and makes lethal threats.

That’s what went down on the afternoon of April 18 th when, according to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sr. Deputy Juan Cordova, a 24-year-old male and female pulled into the beach parking lot intent on enjoying the sand between their toes but “encountered several subjects drinking.”

Words were exchanged and 20-year-old Oxnard resident Jadon Franco suddenly whipped out “a Glock-style handgun” from his waistband. The victims understandably “fearing for their safety,” immediately fled the area and promptly called 911.

Responding deputies discovered Franco and identified him as the “subject who brandished the firearm at the victims,” although he was unarmed when the cops showed up. Summoning a VCSD K9 unit to the scene, the cops soon located a black “ghost gun loaded with 10 live rounds of ammunition.”

Franco was taken into custody and transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on charges of Brandishing at a Person in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Carrying a Loaded Firearm in Public, Carrying a Concealed Firearm, and multiple violations of his probation terms. He remains in custody on a no- bail hold.
