Sacramento, CA – In a swift and diligent operation, the Sacramento Sheriff’s Office announced today the arrest of Lashawn Gillion, a 32-year-old resident of Sacramento, in connection with a violent robbery that took place at the Chase Bank located in the South Sacramento area on April 23, 2023.
The incident unfolded when a distress call was received by the Sacramento Sheriff’s Office Communications Center reporting a robbery at the Chase Bank. According to the victim, who was using the ATM machine at the time, he was assaulted and robbed of his wallet. The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical treatment due to the severity of his injuries.
Upon arrival at the scene, patrol deputies discovered dried blood on the ground near the ATM and collected a rock that was likely used to perpetrate the assault. Utilizing the advanced surveillance system of the bank, robbery detectives meticulously reviewed the recorded footage. The video revealed a suspect approaching the victim as he operated the exterior ATM. In a shocking act of violence, the suspect struck the victim on the back of his head with a blunt object, rendering him unconscious. Seizing the opportunity, the suspect then proceeded to pilfer valuables from the victim’s pockets before fleeing on foot, leaving the victim incapacitated and bleeding profusely from his head. The victim suffered major head injuries and required several days of hospitalization for treatment.
Following an exhaustive investigation, detectives successfully identified the suspect as Lashawn Gillion, a resident of Sacramento with an extensive criminal history dating back to 2011. On May 3, 2023, Gillion was apprehended by Sacramento Sheriff’s Robbery Detectives, thanks to their relentless efforts and dedication to public safety.
Gillion now faces multiple charges, including robbery and assault, as a result of his alleged involvement in this brazen incident. Authorities believe that this arrest will bring a sense of relief to the victim and instill confidence within the community that justice will be served.
