Traffic Stop Results in Arrest for Illicit Drugs and a Concealed Handgun

LIVERMORE — A car with nonfunctioning lights attracted the attention of a Livermore officer who ultimately arrested the driver. The resulting traffic stop turned up illicit drugs and a handgun, and the driver was soon on his way to jail.
At approximately 3:30 a.m. on May 7, an officer observed a car with a nonfunctioning brake light on the driver’s side. Lights for illuminating the rear license plate were also not working. Moreover, the registration tag on the license plate had expired long ago.
A traffic stop was initiated on Southfront Road, near First Street, a short distance from Interstate 580. Suspicions were further aroused when the officer contacted the driver, Nicholas Bertolucci, a 32-year-old resident of Sacramento.
It seems that Bertolucci was carrying a concealed Glock 380 pistol tucked inside his waistband. Moreover, the suspect had in his possession a large quantity of illicit drugs ready for street sales.
Evidence recovered from Bertolucci includes –
- 100 benzodiazepine pills
- 20 grams of fentanyl
- 20 grams of methamphetamine
- two grams of cocaine
- Bertolucci was soon on his way to Alameda County Santa Rita Jail. He was charged the
- following day for multiple drug and firearm related felonies including –
- Carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle
- Carrying a concealed loaded firearm
- Possession of a firearm by a narcotic addict
- Possession of controlled substances
- Transportation of controlled substances for sale
