Woman in Custody in Lieu of $250,000 for Allegedly Setting a Vehicle on Fire

SAN RAFAEL— A woman who says she works as a laborer is in custody on suspicion of committing arson. She is believed responsible for setting a vehicle on fire that was parked inside a public parking garage.
A witness reported seeing the suspect throw flaming paper on top of the roof of a small convertible. The burned vehicle was parked inside the Big Public Parking Garage, located downtown near the intersection of Third and B streets.
Police responded on the morning of May 17. Firefighters extinguished the fire before it could spread to other vehicles, and there was no damage reported to the garage.
The woman arrested for allegedly doing this was found not far from the scene of the crime. The witness positively identified Tameka E. Cullens, 46, of San Rafael, as the suspected arsonist. She allegedly hit an officer before she was arrested at 7:51 a.m.
Cullens, who is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 110 pounds, lists laborer as her occupation. She was transported to Marin County Jail. She remains there in custody in lieu of $250,000 bond.
Cullens was booked on open felony charges for arson PC 451 (A) and obstructing an officer PC 69. She also faces a misdemeanor charge for battery on a police officer or emergency personnel PC 243 (B). Her next scheduled court hearing is June 22.
