“On Saturday, June 3rd, detectives learned a subject they had been looking for was seen in the area around Sheridan, possibly driving a stolen truck. Deputies located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the subject led them on a pursuit along northbound Highway 65.
Air resources from the California Highway Patrol, a K-9 officer from the Department of Fish and Wildlife, and additional deputies from the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office joined the pursuit to assist in capturing the subject, who managed to avoid several spike strip deployments.
After approximately ten miles, the subject pulled over and took off on foot before being apprehended by DFW’s K-9 officer. The subject was arrested by PCSO deputies and identified as 49-year-old Jeffory Shook, of Lincoln. A search of the vehicle Shook was driving revealed a shotgun and several rounds belonging to him.
The vehicle and trailer in tow were determined to be stolen from two different individuals who were able to retrieve their property.
Shook was subsequently arrested for evading, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen vehicle, a felony warrant, and several other related charges. This case is an excellent example of the strong teamwork mentality we share with our allied partners.”
