The discovery of a vehicle that had been reported stolen led to the arrests of three people on a variety of charges in Tulare County.

According to a press release by Porterville PD, officers spotted a vehicle, which had previously been reported stolen, on the 200 block of North Third Street on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 7. The officers attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop, but the vehicle evaded and fled the scene. The vehicle was later found abandoned on the 400 block of North Murry Street, as the occupants had fled on foot to a nearby residence on the 500 block of North Fourth Street.

Efforts were made to establish communication with the occupants of the residence through verbal announcements, but initially, there was no response. After a period of time, two individuals, identified as Videl Rincon (34) and Shereen Macias (32), exited the residence without incident and were placed under arrest.

Another individual, later identified as Daniel Martinez (31), also emerged from the residence but reportedly attempted to evade capture by fleeing on foot. Martinez was quickly apprehended without further incident.

Upon the arrival of Porterville Police Department Detectives, a search warrant was promptly obtained from a Superior Court Judge for the residence in question. During the execution of the search warrant, detectives discovered a loaded 12-gauge shotgun with an obliterated serial number.

A search of the previously reported stolen vehicle yielded further evidence in the form of live ammunition. Further investigation revealed that Shereen Macias had five active warrants for her arrest, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Martinez was arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle without consent, possessing a stolen vehicle, being a felon in possession of ammunition, and delaying or resisting a peace officer. He has been booked at the Tulare County South County Detention Facility, where he remains in custody with bail set at $35,000.

Macias was arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle without consent, possessing a stolen vehicle, delaying/resisting a peace officer, as well as the existing arrest warrants, and is being held at the same detention facility with bail set at $195,000.

Rincon was arrested on suspicion of delaying or resisting a peace officer and possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number, and is also being held at the Tulare County South County Detention Facility with bail set at $15,000.
